Welcome to Millfield Primary!


Welcome to our school website! I hope it will give you a flavour of life at Millfield Primary School as well as provide you with the information you are looking for.

All members of our school staff are committed to our aim of providing the very best learning opportunities and education for the children in our care, enabling them to achieve well, both academically and socially, and to become responsible and valuable members of our community. We believe, through a nurturing ethos, children grow in confidence and curiosity and, with excellent teaching and learning opportunities, they will develop the social, emotional and academic skills to be successful not only here at Millfield, but as they move on to the next stage of their education and on into life.

Children are at the heart of our broad and balanced curriculum. We have chosen a skills and enquiry based approach to learning which enables the children to apply their English and Maths skills and knowledge within a highly motivating context, called a ‘Learning Challenge’. At the start of every Learning Challenge the children think carefully about what they know already and then identify questions they want to find the answers to- these questions, along with the national curriculum programmes of study, drive the focus and direction of each Learning Challenge. Music, the arts and sport also play an important role in developing the ‘whole child’ and at Millfield these are highly valued.

Learning does not only take place within the school day. At Millfield we recognise and value the place of residential visits and we run a number of extra-curricular activities, covering a wide range of interests.

All this can only truly be achieved by building a close and effective partnership with parents and other members of the community. We pride ourselves on having strong relationships with parents, governors, volunteers and other professionals so that we put in place the best possible provision for our children. 15th July 2016

Sports Day

Weather permitting, our sports day will start at 9.30am for KS2 and 1pm for KS1.  Parents are welcome to come along and watch their children taking part, and then stay for a picnic lunch.  

On this day, school lunches will be the Grab & Go option only.

Pre-loved uniform sale

Friends of Millfield will be running a second hand uniform sale outside the school office from 3pm-3.30pm

Celebration Assembly

This is our last Celebration Assembly of the year.  Parents will receive invitiations if their child is receiving an attendance or housepoint certificate.
