Welcome to Millfield Primary!

Welcome to our school website! I hope it will give you a flavour of life at Millfield Primary School as well as provide you with the information you are looking for.

All members of our school staff are committed to our aim of providing the very best learning opportunities and education for the children in our care, enabling them to achieve well, both academically and socially, and to become responsible and valuable members of our community. We believe, through a nurturing ethos, children grow in confidence and curiosity and, with excellent teaching and learning opportunities, they will develop the social, emotional and academic skills to be successful not only here at Millfield, but as they move on to the next stage of their education and on into life.

Children are at the heart of our broad and balanced curriculum. We have chosen a skills and enquiry based approach to learning which enables the children to apply their English and Maths skills and knowledge within a highly motivating context, called a ‘Learning Challenge’. At the start of every Learning Challenge the children think carefully about what they know already and then identify questions they want to find the answers to- these questions, along with the national curriculum programmes of study, drive the focus and direction of each Learning Challenge. Music, the arts and sport also play an important role in developing the ‘whole child’ and at Millfield these are highly valued.

Learning does not only take place within the school day. At Millfield we recognise and value the place of residential visits and we run a number of extra-curricular activities, covering a wide range of interests.

All this can only truly be achieved by building a close and effective partnership with parents and other members of the community. We pride ourselves on having strong relationships with parents, governors, volunteers and other professionals so that we put in place the best possible provision for our children. 16th June 2016

KS2 Youth Club

Friends of Millfield will be hosting a Youth Club for our KS2 children 5pm-6.30pm.  Come along to chill and chat with friends or take part in the activities.  Entrance is £1 and there will be a tuck shop to purchase sweets , crisps and drinks.

17th June 2016

Male relative reading session

As part of our Father's Day events, we are inviting male relatives to come into school and read with our children.  Dads, grandads, uncles, cousins are welcome from 2.30pm.

24th June 2016

Yr 1/2 Sleepover

Years 1 and 2 are invited to their first official school sleepover.  This event will start at 5pm with games, treasure hunts and other activities to start our evening, followed by a chip supper. We will also having stories and hot chocolate before bed.  Parents will be able to collect their children at 10am on Saturday morning.  Flyers regarding cost and kit needed will be sent out in the summer term.
