What we've been learning

Useful Information

Please read every night and record a short comment in your reading journal. It would be useful if these were brought into school each day. A weekly Maths activity will be set every Friday, to be completed by the following Wednesday.

This term, our PE sessions will be on a Monday and a Thursday afternoon. These will involve both an outdoor and an indoor session, so it is important that children have the appropriate kit for each session. Tracksuit trousers would be greatly appreciated due to the current temperature. It would be extremely helpful if all PE kit could be brought into school on a Monday morning and taken home on a Friday evening. This ensures that all children have their kit in case of extra sessions.

2 Minute Run

The 2 minute run is returning to Millfield! Every day, children will go outside during class time in order to run for two minutes. The only person to beat is themselves, with children recording their laps daily, and hoping to improve. Due to the short nature of these sessions, we will not be getting changed, but will instead go outside in our uniforms.

The Year 5 Homepage!!

 Welcome back!

Our first Summer half-term starts with a learning challenge focusing on the exploration of Antarctica, particularly the expedition led by Ernest Shackleton. This will mean we will be looking at element of climate change, the animals native to Antarcitica, the expedition itself and the world as it was in 1914.

In maths we will be working with statistics and shapes after our initial recap of various multiplication and division methods, our text for English is 'Shackleton's Journey' by William Grill, which links in nicely with our LCC.

If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesistate to speak to me.

Best wishes

Mr Ward
